The scale and detail encourage viewers to slow down and reflect on the power of thought and intention. The work received the 2014 People’s Choice Award, something I’m grateful for because it showed the piece resonated with those who experienced it.

This piece is made from layered pages of a 1937 Webster’s Dictionary that I discovered in a thrift store, a vintage book that most likely would have been thrown away. Instead of letting it be discarded, I gave it new life as a wearable piece of art. The nearly 90-year-old pages are fused together and wrapped in brown leather, then hardened until they feel solid like wood, a nod to paper’s original source. Small openings reveal my signature and the layered edges of the pages, and a clear gloss finish seals and protects the piece. Each bangle takes up to eight weeks to complete. I love transforming something overlooked into something lasting and meaningful.
